Dr. Nezia de Rosso serves in Centro de Pesquisas em Reologia e Fluidos Não Newtonianos of Federal University of Technology – Paraná as a scientist. She obtained her Ph.D. degree from Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná. Her research interest focuses on non-Newtonian drilling fluids pertinent to Petroleum Engineering. She obtained 14 projects from Instituto Nacional de Ciências, UTFPR, Petrobras and some famous petroleum companies. Her research projects include: Development of Mathematical Models to Simulate Drilling Fluid Flows; Mathematical modeling and rheology of fluids with pre-dispersed viscosifying polymers (pad-mud); Infrastructure project to enable research projects on low-density drilling fluids and mathematical modeling and rheology of fluids with pre-dispersed viscosifying polymers (pad-mud).

内容摘要:

Low-density non-Newtonian drilling fluids are fluids used in drilling that change their viscosity under stress but are less dense than standard drilling fluids. These fluids are often thixotropic, meaning they become less viscous when sheared (like when pumped) and more viscous when at rest (to prevent cuttings from settling). Their low density is achieved by adding lightweight weighting materials, and their non-Newtonian properties are controlled by polymers to optimize hole cleaning andpressure control. This presentation is to share the fundamental of low-density nonNewtonian fluids and the research experience of Dr. Nezia de Rosso in Petroleum Engineering applications.
